HIGHLY GRADED DRIVING INSTRUCTOR:

Every driving instructor in the UK must undergo periodic Check Tests by the Driving Standards Agency, during these tests a senior Driving Examiner sits in on an actual lesson and grades the instructor on a scale running between 1-6, dependent on their teaching ability.
To remain on the Driving Instructor Register instructors must achieve a basic minimum standard of grade 4. If they grade lower than 4 three times consecutively then they will be removed from the register.

Not only have I NEVER been awarded a final grading of 4, I have NEVER been marked as low as a 4 on ANY CATEGORY of the Check Test grading Sheet. I am extremely proud of this acheivement, especially given the fact that the last Check Test I attended was an advanced Fleet Check Test, which is marked to a much higher standard than the ordinary Driving Instructor Check Test.

Below are my last 2 Check Test Grading sheets, most recent first.
The higher the mark in "column B" on the right in these sheets then the more skillful the instructor.
The grading scale runs from 1-6, with a mark of 1 seen as dangerous instruction rising to a maximum mark of 6 for excellent instruction.
